Self-care is being mindful of your own needs through prioritizing your physical or mental wellness. Sometimes we get so wrapped up in making sure everyone else is ok, that we forget about our own well-being. You must be intentional with making time for yourself. It is so easy to come up with excuses about not really having time to spare I know that a guilty of this. Adopting therapeutic self-care rituals can improve your social, professional, and spiritual lives as you begin to feel better inside out. All in all, the main goal is to extend and enhance the quality of your life through lavishing yourself and doing things that make you happy.
It’s crucial that you take care of yourself. Creating your self-love plan requires a few easy steps. Take note that a healthcare professional can help you develop a detailed plan. However, here are a few of my recommendations that you can try to help you with your self-care journey.
Choose a Hobby
I enjoy running and journaling, it’s very therapeutic and relaxes my mind. As a distance runner, I usually run at least three miles on average each time I run. When I run I feel free from any stressors and an overwhelming level of calmness. It’s almost like I am in my own world or space. Journaling is also something I really enjoy; I can express myself through words with no judgement or criticism.
Analyze your routines and create a schedule to avoid stress
Having a routine helps you to manage your stress and stay organized. I use my daily planner to assist with manage my day-to-day routine. This also balances my schedule and keeps me on track to meet critical deadlines. Add time for yourself to your schedule, regardless of what it is; nail/salon appointments, massages, gym time, shopping, etc. Additionally, I also set reminders in my phone for my time sensitive such as meeting, appointments, or other events.
Eat Healthy
Ok sooo. This is probably the most challenging for me because I’m such a foodie. Let’s just say that when I make healthy food choices I feel awesome and very energized. Meal prepping is always a great option, you want find yourself scrambling or indecisive for meals because you planned ahead.
Try to develop healthy relationships
This one is BIG for me! Relationships matter. I am gossip and drama free, it’s not something I care to affiliate myself with. I was raised to treat people the way the way you want to be treated. I have always try to surround myself around very positive and encouraging people. We have heard “misery loves company”. Consider getting a mentor or a coach, this is someone who is very honest and has you in their best interest. This is the person that usually keeps you grounded.
Love for ourselves is the key to loving others and being the best version of ourselves. Although it’s crucial to our health, many people feel guilty or unworthy of the time and effort devoted to it. With self-care as a priority, you will feel better from within.
